      Hi twoshovel, Let me try.....

An archaeologist has found something rarer than the gold De Soto sought - physical evidence of the explorer's precise journey through Marion County.

Thanks for the interesting read twoshovel -and- Bill. It's hard to imagine how the spanish soldiers could stand wearing metal armor (and padding) while traipsin' through the middle of FLA, but I guess it wasn't too hard for the soldiers to imagine being porky-pined full of stone tipped arrows. I didn't realize the natives were down to just ten percent of their population just 30 years after De Soto's passage: I guess during that period, it was just a reoccurring process for the NA's to have their traditions and lives destroyed during a single lifetime though. Here's a local article about a  Indian fort that was recently discovered http://www.examiner.com/article/smcm...ry-indian-fort They had a stockaded village on the Potomac River for a thousand years (directly across from G. Washington's Mount Vernon), but due to colonial greed and deception (not to mention a war with New England's Indians), they were forced to move further and further to the East. Their last bastion was another amazing find!
