  • Christmas gift for a young friend

I'm looking to buy or swap for a handful of points from area/s of the country the Cherokees lived. A friend of mine now has a seven year old son from a second marriage and he is really interested in arrowheads. He also has some Cherokee blood in him. He asked if I would sell him a couple I said no I'll give you a few. Anyway we got to talking, he told me about his son being part Cherokee I stuck my foot in my mouth and said let me see if I can get him a few from that area too.
    So
Willing to trade or pay, don't have to perfect just something he can see and feel and give him some connection.
    Thanks

Hey Greg, I'm sure I can come up with some nice points from the Cherokee areas. I will be glad to give them to you to pass on. Any preference for a particular state?

Greg, If You google Cherokee villages or something similar You might be able to figure out the right area to acquire some points from somewhere on east coast area maybe. They may likely be cherokee points give or take some century's heh.

I think a good idea would maybe see if modern cherokee arrowheads can be bought and i would check oklahoma reservations if legal and all. I think their history goes back to the east coast too though. Heres a video about Cherokee's.

I have been to Cherokee and also climbed Clingmans Dome a few years back. Nice trial provided by the National Park Service but steep.

Greg - Based on what I know, the Cherokee were active in my part of Tennessee. I don't know if we can identify specific points to a tribe, I would be glad to contribute to your gift. You can PM me if you still need help. ...Chuck

Hey Greg, I think your planned Christmas gift is a great idea. I would like to donate 4 points and 3 scrapers towards the gift (All from Tennessee). That fourth point is a small arrow point (Likely used by the cherokee).

Much appreciated all, but now you put me to work, looks like I'm going to have to make a frame! When I receive all and get framed, I'll take some pics of what you have shared and post them here. I'll also make sure he understands how generous you all were and try to get his Dad to take a picture of him and the artifacts, Thanks.

Hey Gents. this is Colton opening up what ended up being his birthday present instead of Christmas present. Dad, with Colton in the first pic couldn't wait that long! Looks like your generosity had the hoped for effect!
His Father wrote that they "wish you and your family a Happy New Year and also thank you for the gift to Colton. It is one of his most favorite gifts from both Birthday and Christmas. Can you please let the men know that Colton and I really appreciate the work all of you put into this for him, words can;t express our gratitude. Thanks again."
