Authentic or reproduction Boatstone???

A friend of mine wanted me to post a picture of his boatstone on here to get some opinions on it whether it  looks authentic or like a reproduction...Thanks for your time!

looks to be authentic but hard to tell without having it in my hand, i have one in my collection that looks similar but not drilled, looks like that one was drilled before it was hollowed out, I have never personally seen one 9 inches long though, and welcome from another rock hound from ohio!

Tony, from what I can see, I don't think is old. It is much larger than typical specimens, the material is all wrong (usually banded slate or good hardstone), and from the pics the holes don't look right.

Yeah...its big for sure, thats why we were curious about it...I havent seen one this big during my researching
