  • Greenbrier Drill/Exhausted Greenbrier?

This is one I've not been able to ID. I think it's more of a many times over sharpened knife than a "drill". The base is slightly concave. The entire hafting region has moderate/heavy grinding, the ears, shoulders, and base all have been ground. Not sure if it's the material (I believe this is Muldraugh Ft Payne, plenty of it in the area), but the faces in the hafting region even seem heavily ground making it hard to see the flake scars. For those reasons I was thinking Greenbrier, but not sure obviously. Maybe big sandy? I dunno... thoughts?

I am not seeing a greenbrier . The notches are too deep and not wide enough. Maybe an exhausted Pine Tree sharpened until the barbs were gone. Its a nice find.

I believe this is a Pine Tree. It is heavily used having been resharpened several times. But it still has a corner notch appearance. Greenbriers are side notched.
