  • Paleo tools ?

Other than finding them in association with paleo projectiles, how would one distinguish between paleo age and other periods of time ?

I have a uniface clovis tool with overshot flakes. I will try and get a pic for you later. It was found in Winkler Co.

The big one in your area will be paleo end scrapers (PES) vs later end scrapers.

PES have spurs on one side or both. Some of them are probably early archaic, but most are old. (And unless damaged, I haven't seen a late arrow point culture use spurred scrapers.)

          Hong Kong, but from Indiana/Florida

Some will have micro flaking and some not so. The best clovis I ever found did not.

I think that was a good question . I kept a flake just because it had really nice over over shot flaking . Then a few tools I found with micro flaking and spurs . Safe to say they are old .

Nice to have the rank and file tools associated with the well known points from so long ago.
