Now that I have become enthralled with artifact hunting and the history that can be found doing it, I am wondering about my Arrow of Light. For those who do not know, this is the highest rank and award in Cub Scouts. I earned this in 1993 and my Cub Scout Pack would present an arrow to those being awarded this rank. This might be what all Cub Scout packs did, I do not know what the general practice was at the time. The point is while I remember my Scout leaders being great people, I do not really remember them having backgrounds in history.
I know enough at this stage to recognize that this too large to be an arrow point, but what I cannot identify is if this is an ancient artifact or a modern piece. I vaguely remember the regional scout shop selling arrowheads in a small bin, but I have no idea if this one came from that bin or not, or even if they were selling modern made points or not.
It was be pretty awesome if they used authentic artifacts for these arrows, but I am also enough of a realist to doubt that and suspect that this may be a modern piece made for purposes like this.
What is the verdict?
