  • Hammerstones and Grooved Axes

Hello, I am wondering how old a grooved axe/hammerstone would be if the groove is only on roughly half of the artifact.
    Thanks!

Natives have been making grooved hardstone tools since the Archaic era. and maybe a little longer. The only way to diagnose Axes and other hardstones is to figuring out what other items are found on that same site. Then you can research those points to a particular time period. I hope this helps. If the item is bought you'll never know, unless you have other diagnostics from the same site. K
Knowledge is about how and where to find more Knowledge. Snyder County Pa.
