  • Mammal teeth. Peace River, Bone Valley, FL

Peace River used to be loaded with fossils just laying there.....that was years ago. Still lot of finds but it's been beat out in many areas. You find these fanning and digging the rubble bottom and cracks in the limerock bedrock. I snorkel at arm's length, using the current to help move material away. These are just the good ones from one LONG day and also found two points that day. Various mammal teeth, mostly Equus.

Oh WOW! Would love to find one but mammoth & mastodon coastal territory is now under water. Those are a prize!
I do have one solitary fossil bison tooth I found on the beach washed up by a nor'easter last year.

Thanks for sharing Tom. That sounds like a really fun way to pass the day and find treasure to boot.
