  • Fish fossils

Years ago probably sometime in the 1970's we occasionally would stop at a area that had fossil fish if we happened to be in that area looking for NA campsites. This is a place that didn't have the notoriety of the fossil beds in the Kemmerer, Wy area. Back then people would take backhoes out there and dig up big areas looking for fossils. Now it is a definite no no but at that time people pretty much did anything they wanted and we wonder why everything is prohibited. Anyway we could just paw through somebody else's diggings and find good fossils. 4 or 5 years ago I gathered up these and packed them in a tub to protect them. I don't remember how many good ones we had but I'm sure a few got broken over the years. We still have a few scattered around the yard that have just portions showing . These are the complete ones I saved. Click image for larger version

Kemmerer WYO. I tried that put a wedge in a clay slab in the novice area about 2 hours one time.
All the others times I go watch the experienced peoples working in the areas were the “Bling” bigger like yours are found.

O, Wow and Wow...! I’d think I’d died and gone to fossil heaven! (I’m tickled over tiny piece coral!)

Absolutely, LinnyMan, today! I certainly had not forgotten about your kind offer; was just trying to maintain appearance of more sedate decorum!? (Yeah, right, huh?!)
