  • Anything but Limestone

Yesterday I went hunting again. It seems that wherever I look there are piles of limestone. Yesterday we went out on the Garden Peninsula. I was happy to find a few pieces of hardstone in the piles of limestone. Found some fossils and two interesting shiny stones but no artifacts.

This stone has holes that are full of white crystals.

There were bigger pieces of this stone. The sheets of stone are about 1/2 inch thick. The stone is white and sparkles where it is broken. One surface looks like a dried up mud flat except that it is bright white. This white layer is very sharp where it is broken.

I'm very curious: Can anyone tell me what the stones are? These were found on the Lake Michigan shoreline. In a very remote area.
