  • odd black flint core?

Found this yesterday in my cow pasture on eroded ground. Never saw flint this black in Kentucky. Looks like it might have been struck on several sides, not natural strikes, several scratches as well. It's very shiny, reflective and very slick when wet but feels almost gummy when dry. One side look as if it might have been used to hammer something.
Anyone know what the source of this flint might be? I'll try to attach 4 pix. Low res. for web use.

It is a pound stone that has been worked down to better fit in the hand. I like it, nice material. A spal is what is left over after the natives have removed flakes to be used for knifes, scrapers -and- points.

Thanks. Is there any way to determine the source of the flint?

I do not know what type of stone it is.
