        Looks more like an Orthoquartzite, maybe Catahoula?

          Agree that it looks more like a quartzite. Hereā€™s a RI found point made of oolitic chert from Paā€¦.But, Iā€™m not familiar with all varieties of oolitic Chertā€¦.

            Our state geologist looked at it, And decided it was in fact Oolitic Chert

                  Well, yeah, can see ooids in your second photo, and it does look like chert in second photo. Most oolites will be limestone, not chertā€¦.

                  Itā€™s possible the grains in your very first photo in this thread was much more remindful of quartzite, due to lack of great focus, and are actually showing ooids, rather than the quartz grains in quartziteā€¦.
