Nice find Ron!  The material  is local Buffalo River Chert that's been heat treated.
I've posted a pic of this before and have since had it authenticated. Congratulations
and welcome from MS.

Ron, the COA is the source of my information. I was also told this one
from my avatar was the same material without the heat.



Also, I would defiantly find a way to preserve that sweet box top! :woohoo:

The material looks like classic Novaculite to me. Buff River chert is typically opaque, not translucent like Novaculite.
