Finally, after two years of finding zilch, I finally found something worked! It's made of Carter Cave chert, and I guess it's a broken blade. I found it in the dirt that was being moved because our ponds are being re-done. This is the second artifact found on one of our ponds here!

Glad you broke the run of no luck. I've had a few epic runs myself. Now get back out there and look while you are on the good side of the streak. I swear I seem to find stuff in bunches. 4 times out, 4 finds....then nothing for long periods. I'll be waiting to see your next find.Central Ohio

That must be some pretty nice stone. For them to work a piece that close to the cortex, leaving it and still maintaining the integrity of the tool....
sorta like they squeezed the most out of it.

Great find Ethan. I think it was snapped in manufacture: never finished. And that means you should find much more in the same area. If they had finished the knife the patina would probably have been removed and certainly the tip would have been flaked.Michigan Yooper
