            It was freakish how I found this excelsior sticking out of a small hillside I’d wandered countless times. Back in the mid 2000’s during a pretty good period of time finding stuff. Short of a few nice scrappers, the banding is the most pronounced of anything I’ve found and a stand out among my other blades, hence freak. Obsidian, and I wonder about it being the Lassen banded type? The local obsidian has plenty of striations as well so I don’t know.
