  • New Permissions - Success! 2/09/2022

Hit some new farms in the adjacent county and had a field day! Found a large campsite on a hill in a cut Haygrazer field with a mottled black and gray blade, then a Nolan dart point (Middle Archaic: 6000-4500 YBP), and a few scrapers. Moved to another farm and found another large campsite in the middle of a wind blown stripped cotton field. Found a nice Golondrina (Paleo: 9100-8850 YBP), a very small Scallorn? arrow point (Late Prehistoric: 800-1250 YBP), a nice curvy blade, and some brokes. Supposed to get strong wind early next week, I'll be out there after that!

Best feeling ever. Discover a promising new spot and have it deliver a terrific point. Hoping you'll repost the pics that aren't showing. That's a killer point. Texas stuff is always worth a look.

Thanks for letting me know that some of my pictures did not post. Weird because I can see all 8. Posting all again as I don't know which ones the Forum can't see. Someone please let me know if all 8 show up. I was tickled pink when the Golondrina turned out to be whole! Enjoy!

Here's a landscape picture of the stripped cotton farm with my 4Runner parked next to the ubiquitous pumpjack. Hunting a sandy farm is best when it is windblown like this!

I'm liking the paleo. Not sure I would call it Golondrina but also not sure what else to call it except very nice. Some of the other items look old too. Looking forward to your next trip.

Hey GarGuy, how about a Dalton for the one I thought was Golondrina?

Maybe Holland which may be dalton related. Not a perfect fit there either. It's nice though

Lucky you. Looks like an awesome spot. Nice and flat with no vegetation to hide stuff. Just look for the shine of flint.

Thanks North. I know, hard to believe anything grows in that sand. But it was a bumper crop for cotton.
