  • Spent a few hours on the River today.

Think there may have been a little knapping going on here at one time.  I usually discard the the debitage but here's a sample of a typical few hours worth.

    Partial discoidal maybe?

    A nice little blade/scraper

    More pottery

What I think is a flint nodule

And I had to throw this in, the bottom of a piece of whiteware imported from England around 1860 for a St' Louis company.

Any thoughts on any of this stuff?

I was skeptical about that too.  In fact, several weeks ago I found what I think is the other half and dismissed it as modern because of all the other fill at this site.  Then I found this yesterday several yards away from the first piece.  I went ahead and grabbed it just for the heck of it.  I have a good idea where the other piece is, just didn't have time to find it yesterday.  I read that Cahokia discoidals sometimes have a hole in the center.  Still makes me wonder.

I pick it all up and have coffee cans full to prove it! Study many of the flakes.
Another good day on the river!
