why is my artifact blue and white

i found a very nice piece i guess its a scraper or something. its swirled beautiful blue and white and cream. can anyone tell me why its those colors?

It could be heat treated. If you post a pic and give location that might help.

Cant answer that but that looks like jefferson city chert. Some call it mozarkite though it doesnt appear heat treated and probably always been that color. Good find.
