What a shame, sadly, this type of thing happens all the time, but on a much less known scale. I would think a battle site would have its own protection, regardless of private property ownership. Our government should step in and flip the bill on that for the Sioux, it's the least they could do since they're dishonored every treaty they ever signed with the natives. People living out in the west, be ready for what's coming. Our public lands are going to have similar destruction in the near future, the oil and gas industry are already "leasing" our lands, cutting them off from public access and destroying the thousands of years of history in its wake, all in the name of the dollar...

I didn't like seeing this happen either. I'm not sure what could be done. The historic site itself
is not being sold from what I understand, but 40 acres right next to it. Although it is all part of it. I have yet to visit the site myself. Its way out in the middle of the Pine Ridge Reservation. Maybe we can all get together and buy it! Someone on here must have a few million.
