  • Finds From Parker Creek on Lake Martin in Coosa County Alabama

Some friends and I found a site that produced many artifacts over several hunts. There were tiny fragments of pottery most everywhere but we located one spot that evidently was a midden with many larger fragments. It was approx. 10' X 10' and partially under water but we collected several of the larger more interesting pieces. We could tell at a glance that some fit together. No one wanted any of them so I took them home and tried to piece as many as I could back together. I wound up getting a few glued back together and framed 3 of the better ones.

Thank you. You likely have seen all this before Jon and yes, I made those frames from cedar scraps from another project. The "gun rack" style was my first attempt at something that would work for that particular piece of pottery.

Very impressive! What do you use as glue? Hal is pottery guru, and has restored some big ole Florida pieces; he uses mixture Elmers, ducco, maybe something else. Clearly, you are creative, and I too love your shadowbox displays!

Thank you for your response and interest. I used TITEBOND II Wood Glue, wiped/washed off the excess with a sponge and let it set up for 24 hours. It took multiple sessions to get it done.

Thanks Hal. I'm sure you-da-man in pottery restoration. I just took a shot since TITEBOND worked so well with wood projects and cleaned up with water.

Impressive Terry. I love to try to put together the pottery puzzle myself. I never thought I could display them, now I know how thanks to you. K
