    Poverty Point cooking balls. The one on the left is a fragment, the one in the middle is a loaf shaped which is a little unusual and the one on the right probably is a fragment also but if it was broken it has a nice patina on the break so it appears to be an old break. We had more and better examples of the common styles but when we moved and downsized 8 years ago they didn’t make the trip for some reason. I posted a Pontchartrain point from this site on the arrowhead section titled “Heartbreaker”

      I would have never guessed those exquisite things to be boiling stones! I have bigger fragment of one WillJo gifted me; is flatter, concrete-y looking, and has round thru-n-thru hole so can be fished out. It is one of my favorite tools.
