Odd shaped slate - Any Ideas?

    09-03-2023, 01:56 PM
I found this first one a year or 2 ago and jokingly said I found an NA guitar pick and tossed it aside on a shelf thinking it was a cool, but natural piece. I found this in the Louisville, KY area.

However, this weekend, I talked to a fellow hunter who found one very similar this year in southern OH. The one found in OH has a sharper tip to the tear drop shape.

They are both made of slate.

    Any ideas?

The above thread was posted by Deversehound. After reviewing the post and the pictures others had posted I think I have come to a conclusion. If these were to be drilled pendants, then logic tells me that those who find them would surely find drilled ones as well! And seeing as very few have been found drilled (if any) they just were not meant to be drilled pendants. It just goes to reason that they were used for something else. I'm not going to postulate on their use. Kim

Now that's logical, but where are the drilled ones?
