A little fossil hunting pal of mine dropped by last night with this. He found in in the Illinois River near Ottawa. I looked at it under the lens and it looks to have a lot of shiny bits of silica in it. Its water worn of course. I think it broke off a larger piece also. Looks like two materials fused together. It has a dense feel to it but the rare earth magnet did not grab to it. Its not a fossil just a cool little rock.
