  • The creek had really rolled

and the gravel bars had turned over! It will make for a long post but that's a good thing! Hunted for about 4 hours. 1.5 mile stretch.

First piece would have been a monster

This next one will light your fire Ron! I took the shot before I picked it up because it was such a high quality lithic I knew it had to be something. With the smooth cortex on one side, color of lithic and fine edgework it is one of my favorite scrapers.

I don't know Ron; I have only found paleo to archaic in this creek. I guess it would be cool if it was a Jeff or Paint Rock Valley (both transitional paleo pieces). It is ground at the base with thinning strikes.

Hey Dylan, I like all of your finds. Even that mid section is a nice one. Yes that hand held scraper is a real treasure.

                          Dylan,
That is an awesome posting. I absolutely love creek hunting. Your creek produces much more artifacts. The creek I collect from produces more fossils. Those are some really nice finds and I love the pictures as you find them just before picking them up. It makes me feel like I was there. Thanks for sharing.

Some dandy finds you got there, the points and the scrapper. Old tool, that is. Regarding the type of the one that Ron asked you about. All things considered I would go along with your call of Paint Rock Valley. Jeffs tend to have a bit of a flared-out appearance on the corners of the base kinda like on some Daltons which I don't see on your point. You seem to find a goodly number of early Archaic to Paleo artifacts and P.R. Valley would fit in nicely with some of your other old points.
