  • Finally! A Beach Hunt!

A cool, breezy, spittin' rain on-and-off kind of day kept the beach goers and the bugs away! Headed out right after lunch, not expecting to find anything within a foot thick shell midden of oyster and clam. I almost stepped on this bad boy and actually yelped when I spotted it. What a hunk of whitish gray quartz! I've seen bigger and better but only in someone else's collection. Would have loved to watch this one being made!

Wow , that is a great find and it looks to be in great
shape . Educate me here on where the beach finds
happen . I read about where the rivers come out and meet the ocean but have only been on Cal beaches
    and Hawaii .
    It's a large amazging find Buddie .

What a great find. It is hard to tell thickness from photo and flake scars because it's quartz but that sure does have a paleo look to it!

It feels really good in the hand & has been sand polished to a luster. It's a half inch thick.

This particular beach is the terminus of an old Chesapeake Bay paleo channel fed by numerous large tributaries.

Hey, Josh. I'm considering this one the tail end of this past season. A new season will commence with either the aftermath of a tropical system or our first big blow of fall. This was one of those quirky cool summer days so rare in the tidewater.

good for you! Have you back lit it? Set that beauty on a glass table top with low light and a small light under it and I bet it would glow.
