  • Full grooved axe!!!

So me and the kids went out this evening. Walking the rows, about 20 minutes in to our 1 hour walk I spotted this.it was about 7 rows over and just barely exposed. I had a feeling, so I walked over and kicked it and immediately knew it was something good. I dug around it with my heel and knelt down to pull it, when it popped out I was nearly blown away. A full grooved axe!!! Cuss words, excitement, and my inner ric flair followed the find. Here's the pics. Click image for larger version

Jeez, that's a monster. I guess I'm lucky that it didn't take me 35 years to find one.

Thank you! Yes it was definitely a very special moment and a special find. The kids were pumped up too. I'm still in amazement. You'll find one, you just crossed that big blade off the list. Keep hunting the area around that work site you're on, it seems very promising.

What a great axe. Lot of axes have chunks missing from use wear. That one looks to be complete. Congrats.

It does have a little use wear on the bit, and a couple small scars from the plow, but other than that it is completely intact.

Congrats on the axe, but more importantly sharing the time out with your kids. I loved that time with my boys, of course they were more interested in catching toads stomping in the mud but they did manage to find a few. Now with girls and cars I am back to walking alone..... enjoy the time with them now. It wont last nearly as long as you want it to.
