  • Couple of birdies

    My neighbor plowed up a small ridge in one of his pastures with the moldboards! 1st one is made from Flint Ridge, 2nd one is made from a glacial chert.

            Thanks SH, they are true/classic bird points dating back to 1,900 BC. All the pentagonal Jack's Reef (Intrusive Mound) points in this area are corner notched while the side notched variety has a distinct "U" shape to it. They are also extremely thin and the blade is tabular (flattened). The points above have a lenticular blade.

                I know you checked that piece of flint by the second point? Sweet saves!!.. they starting to finally get in the fields up this way, need some good washing now.

                  Absolutely, just a chip. About half the fields around here have been worked, even a few are planted now. Looks like we are gonna get some rain over the next 48 hours. I know what I'm doing this Saturday!
