Noticed some quartz thinning flakes at my buddy's property. Decided to dig by hand underneath them and out popped this artifact. I'm guessing it was a reject because of the fat stacks plus, it looks like my failures. 😁

Even though I'd rather find a G-10, it makes me feel better knowing those old boys had a bad day knapping every now and then. 😉

We all like to knap a beautiful knife but: The more we knap and fail the more we understand about the ancient artifacts. Also knapping many different lithic materials surely helps to understand what we see in the ancient artifacts.

I'm with you on that Ron. Different lithics = different challenges, characteristics and limitations.
