Crap I ran ( okay maybe ran would have been a few yrs ago) downstairs. Found my only Bifurcate it's white/pinkish heat treated Burlington chert. On way downstairs I'm thinking "this is cool I can participate" hence the first word in my post.

As I have stated before, Lancaster Co. Pa. Lithics is predominantly white quartz. Hence most all point/ knifes/tools you can find, can made of white quartz, from Paleo to Contact era. K

I have others but I cannot get to them right now. Two were gifted me by Deb ( HavenHunter) A few years ago. I just bought a display case and it threw a wrench into the works. The frame they are in is too high and above a table now. . I have to rearange before I can get pics.

Those are nice Kim. I have lots of quartz finds but only a few broken bifurcates. A nice, whole, Lecroy is still a bucket list find for me.

I entertained the possibility that this was a bifurcate, but that’s questionable. Might just be a much resharpened Neville. Bifurcates in general are fairly rare here, we’ve found about 8 examples over the years. None were quartz.

Compared to the first one in my Picture I'd say it is one CMD. It's a nice one, thanks for the addition. K

You’re welcome, Kim. Maybe you’re right, we did find another bifurcate there, and a friend found another, works for me as I was on the fence anyway….

Kim, occurred to me last night that a Neville would not have rounded lobes at the base. Small bifurcation? Yes, but a straight base, not lobed. It has to be a bifurcate I think, for that reason. Glad I posted and gave it more thought after your reply.

Hi Kim. Some dandy quartz bifurcates. I never saw a quartz bifurcate until now.

Now I'm glad I did this thread sailor. It just shows to go ya, if you don't post different things we don't learn so much. When I came on the Forum I thought all Arrowheads were triangles. I didn't realize that western arrowheads were notched. That is why I like this site so much, it's all in the seeing and learning. K
