I was going to recommend picking up a copy of this book but when I googled it, Amazon was out of stock and Abe books will almost give you a copy for only $700. If you are able to beg, borrow, buy or steal a copy it is a hilarious story of a Louisiana prison guard that stumbled upon the find of a lifetime, the contact period site of the Tunica Indians who were horse and salt traders. His illegal digs on state property gained him an enormous trove of artifacts and a larger trove of problems. Archaeologists Jeffery Brain was called in and this is his account of the affair and a partial catalog of the items. There is a ton of information on the internet about all this that makes for some good reading. Definitely a tale of what not to do.

I have a copy of “The Tunica Trail” but not the museum booklet. I was going to contact them about getting a copy of it but now I’ll just print it out. I want to make a trip to the museum someday soon.Comment
