I found this flake on tidal river beach in sand and gravel. It appears to have once had very sharp edges, but these have been dulled down with little nicks. Whether this was done intentionally, or through years of rolling around in gravel, I'm not sure. I tend to be skeptical and figure it's natural erosion, but now and then I pick it up and it seems more like a tool....
I am also intrigued by the little circular marks on some of the facets. They only appear on one side of the stone, the other side appears to be a single, clean fracture facet (not sure my terminology is correct, but I hope you get what I mean.) You can see them fairly well in the pics.
