Found this a couple months ago and don't know what it is. Maybe a broken stem from a larger tool? Some sort of scraper? Sorry pics aren't better. The grid is 1/2".

Hey Ed, It's the right size for a gun flint but I have been wrong on that one before. :dunno: It might be a small scraper.

Hadn't thought of gun flint! So in what historical context? Were they knapped by Native Americans for arms they got from Europeans, or would this have been brought here by a trapper/explorer/settler? Might it have come form Lewis -and- Clark expedition? It's a whole other box of possibilities than I'd considered....
