          I found what i think is a stalagmite but i will spare you all's eyes. Its (my rock) not pretty.

                      If it has concentric layers I would guess it is an old stalagmite or stalactite from a cave system.  Otherwise, I have seen similar chert nodules in the Fort Payne which would explain the possible shell fragment in the base.
