I was just thinking it is an oddity because it is smooth/flat on back and the notch on the side looks like it was hafted..Thanks

I'm not seeing anything definitive either making me think it's an artifact. Maybe a waste flake if smooth like you said.

It makes me think of a mineralized build-up like calcium for example that built up on something that had a smooth surface which explains the smooth side.  Just a thought.

Right?! Everything that shimmers isn't gold...Its weird that the Museums in Nevada only showcase Black Obsidian projectile points..(they are actually taken from CA and displayed here and the famous Gypsum Cave site artifacts are displayed in CA
