  • Part of clay pipe?

Hole goes all the way through thinking it's a pipe stem

Actually, it does look like a kaolin pipe stem. Here is an older thread with photos of and info about kaolin pipes.

      https://forums.arrowheads.com/forum/...olin-pipe-stem

The bore hole is fairly wide in diameter, and I think, just as a rule of thumb, that it would date to the 19th century, but just a guess really...

The hole seems oddly centered on this. All of my pipes have the hole off centered.
Can you give us a nice clear close up of the end grain that you are showing in the second picture?

Yes it is. I find bits and pieces on a couple of sites here. Maybe next time a whole pipe.

I am inclined to agree with Greg as to that possibility. It would be most interesting if you could tell us about what other artifacts you have found on the site on which this was found.

I would like to see a closeup of yours. Similar to this.
As you can see by these pictures the substance is granular.
The picture you had looked porous, more bone like than clay.

It does. I can now see that what looked like pores is actually dirt.
You absolutely do have a clay pipe stem piece. 👍👍👍
