ID:	288336Found here in SE NC a couple weeks ago, I would have written it off as just another rock but there is a dimple on both sides of stone that line up symmetrically. 1st 2 pics I put a fishing lead to try to illustrate the dimples, it also appears to have some grinding on the non-dimpled surfaces that also line up with the dimples. A lot of symmetry to be natural, any ideas?

    I can’t see the dimple either it’s just the pic .
    look up nutting stone to see if that matches .
    Its all you can do for now till you get a better pic .

      It is a pitted stone in my opinion. They go by various names cup stone, nutting stone, lap anvil. There is a good article at this link.. http://www.californiaprehistory.com/...1/rep0015.html
