Tool or plain old rock?

Hi all,

My son found this rock, which I believe is basalt, in our town of Oakville, Ontario Canada, just north of Lake Ontario. Is it purely coincidental that its grooves fit perfectly and ergonomically in my hand, as though it were some type of carving tool? I did a little bit of investigation on my own - could it be a graver tool? The end seems like it might once have been quite sharp.

I’m afraid it’s just a rock. I don’t see where it was worked by human hands. The fact that it and many rocks fit perfectly in your hand, attest to how wonderful the human hand is!

Welcome!! I wish I could go back and experience my first (real) finds!! Keep looking down you will find a goodie and then you are HOOKED. lol bet you are hooked already, just wait til you find it.
