  • Quarry Find Identification Help?

Not sure what this might be, if anything. The dark ring around the hole looks like something was burnt?

Looks like Granite I think earlier you said you were in S.E.Utah I did see some nice flake tools you posted earlier in the week. May I ask why you feel these are coming from a quarry?

Is the hole in the Granite anything worked?

The area is acres wide and full of raw agates, quartzite, and other rocks, along with lithic materials, preforms, and tools.

some examples of drilled material. Please note the inside of a drilled hole will have striations ruuning around the inner cercumfrence of the hole. Often but not always beveled inward. Most often it is softer rock that has been drilled. Slate, sandstone, steatite, soapstone and mica
below is a banded slate trapazoidal pendant. note the striations. They are formed from the back and forth motion of the bowdrill or hand drill.

This next one is made of sandstone this one was perforated in a very unusual way. First the hole was made then it was ground to this eye like form from a back and forth motion. You dont usually see stone worked like this except for ground slate ulus.
