The hash character followed by a number is being interpreted by the forum software as 'computer code'... in this case, an instruction to go to "Node 1" of the forum structure, which is the Home Page. It won't happen if you put a space between the characters as "# 1". There will be other combinations that produce similar unintended links.
There may not be a permanent solution to stop it happening, other than avoiding certain combinations of special characters with numbers/letters, or using the space bar to separate them.
