Often a dark chocolate color with tan and or yellow inclusions. Also found in a variety of colors including shades of green, black and tan with the highest quality having a semi translucent rootbeer appearance.
Texture ranges from a coarse and granular texture to a medium grained with a waxy luster. Breathitt is one of the most difficult of the five types in Eastern Kentucky to be identified.
