Attica Chert (also known as Indiana Green Chert)
The source of Indiana Green is near Attica, Warren County, Indiana. Also known to outcrop along Sugar Creek, (Boone and Montgomery Counties) and the Wabash River
(Tippecanoe, Carroll, Fountain and Warren Counties).
Found as tabular chunks, it is generally a grainy material, it is often dull with a coarse texture. Light to dark green with distinctive banding. Knappability is considered very good.
Its distribution rarely exceeds a hundred miles from the source. Near the source, it was used by several cultures but beyond that area it was used primarily by Paleo and Early Archaic people.
