  • Vinland (Newfoundland, Canada)

Vinland is believed to be the Newfoundland coastal area of the North American continent as far as it was explored by the Vikings and likely including both Newfoundland and the Gulf of Saint Lawrence as far as northeastern New Brunswick. L'Anse aux Meadows likely corresponds to the camp referred to as "Straumfjörð" in the Viking "Saga of Eric the Red."
