  • Show me your worst.

Lets go for something a little different. I have been showing off some of my better recent finds lately,
but not everyone who has a metal detector makes those fabulous finds that make us all drool.
In fact just like point hunting we all find things that we just wish we had found years ago.
Chase has mentioned finding metal points that crumble when touched.
I am sure that most of us have some finds to share here so have some fun.
Modern Canadian clad is simply crap. It is a steel core covered by a very thin layer of cladding so it tends to rust very quickly.
This is actually a hollow dime. only the cladding remains.

I call this one a copper washer. It was a penny.

Of course there are other reasons for the find being roached. Salt water for one can destroy a silver coin.
This one was a 1904 quarter.

Can you guess which Washington State Tax token was found in the ocean.

Sometimes the destruction is man made like this Belgian 2 centime

Some times the damage is caused by fertilizer.
2 identical 1900 Victoria City dog tags.

Or how about 2 WW1 military hat badges. One fertilized and 1 not.

For all of you toy collectors I would have loved to find this one whole.

And time and water can destroy almost anything be it wood, like this harmonica from the ghost town of Three Forks BC.

Or just about any old pocket knife you have ever found.

I hope that some of you share your worst because detecting and collecting is all about finding what has been lost
    and not about being elite.

That certainly could have been a barrel Chase. It definitely has taken a beating though.
The cat may be your worst door stop but not the ugliest I have seen. :rolf:
I just found this today and I have to say it's my worst military button to date.

                  .
Love seeing the things you've found - here's just a very few of the things that I've ran across.
Found this necklace in a sm. box  on the river bank - not the most 'messed up', but unusual when searching for arrowheads

                  Ford Hubcap.

Various rusty items.. found the bayonet in the river -and- de-crusted it.

The vintage toy car actually worked pretty well as an atl-atl weight

If the women don\'t find you handsome, they should at least find you handy.

I would kill to find a ring of skeleton keys like that WOW.

Just looking at your pics again and the hub cap struck me.
Think of a commercial and smack your self in the head and say I could have had a Ford.

Or a Hudson: I found a couple of beautiful old fenders  rusting in the woods where a barn had been. I salvaged one rear light assembly, and sold it for decent money to a guy with a project hard-top in Canada. In hindsight, I shoulda hung that sweeping rear fender over one of my mantles - those things are that artful!
                        The cornucopia of tail lights

I always teased that the 'banner weight' was a Pontiac..

Bruce, all my old finds are not ugly. and by no means are they my worst finds. But I enjoy showing them off. Here is a cap box for percussion gun.
