  • Dot dot dash.

For the last two days I have been working a small park that both Mike and I hit late last year.
And I want to first and foremost commend the Esquimalt municipal workers for keeping this an unbelievably clean park
Two days of hunting and this is it for junk.

Consequentially though the recyclables are also down in number.

    And one head scratcher.
Why is there a steel bezel on a 1940 penny. Click image for larger version

The reason for the title is that when you are finding 30s coins you are always hoping against hope that there will be a dot on your coins.

This now makes for 12 early smalls from this small park.
and no silver from the same timeline.
I guess that it's true that they just didn't have it to lose in the dirty 30s.
Yesterday though I did finally find some nicer older coins.

And from what I see it is dated 1905. Sadly there is no makers mark.

This last piece is actually from several days ago and I forgot to post it.
it is junk because of it's condition.

I could not figure out why it was so bad until I read the back.
Most of the commemorative medallions are brass or better.
    But not this one. http://www.emedals.com/thee-unoffici...e-medals-c2908

Warms my heart to see you finding something. I've hit a dry spell. No blustery NE winter winds to drive anything worthwhile ashore. Not even sea glass, which is usually abundant. Last few days it took a hardy soul to walk the beach in 30 degree weather. Brrrrrr!

Tiniest of corrections Bruce. The anchor/lion passant/serifed lower-case ā€˜gā€™ is the Birmingham hallmark for 1906 rather than 1905.
I keep six honest serving-men (they taught me all I knew); Their names are What and Why and When and How and Where and Who.
