I am officially pennied out.

I went back to that little beach that I mentioned was going to be named penny beach.
I invited Jamie out on Tuesday and he found 72 of them. And a couple of great looking buttons. This one although it resembles a flat button. Is actually a two part button.
So with my take in the last two days. That makes 364 pennies from this little strip of beach.
And it makes very little sense because there is almost no modern trash.
Over the three day period I have only found 2 pull tabs and 1 bottle cap. The next three pictures were taken directly behind where I was standing for the beach shot.
Being in the middle of town and having a sweet treat provided. While you detect and enjoy the wild life is something to treasure.
The baby was all but invisible until it moved.
I did not notice it until the parents came over and stood by protectively. And I was in the middle of recovering a target when I looked up and saw these two.
It is likely that the beeping of the pinpointer made them curious.

I found no more silver or buttons on the beach.
But I did pull a mess of copper, brass and lead.
The large bottle in the pic is possibly an older medicine bottle.
And being as this was found right close by the bottle I had at first thought that it might be a stopper for the bottle.
But pigs will fly before that theory will work.
Here is another mystery item.
I have found others just like it before.
My originally thought was that they were some sort of candlestick.
But this one had the rubber gasket in place when it came out of the muck.
Any clues?
The last thing that I have to share is another all brass shotgun shell.
It is in rougher condition than others I have shown.

It is unfired though.
What shocked me was what was inside.
When you see how these 4 cleaned up you get a better picture of how big the pellets really are.
Lets suffice it to say that I would rather be on the receiving end of rock salt rather than these.

It is somewhere between 0 and 00 buckshot.
This is the chart to go by. And since I don't have a set of calipers this is the best that I can do.

i think a 2 3/4 shotgun shell loaded with 00 has 9 pellets. but thats with modern shells from the states.
