  • Taking the bad with the good.

Three days of hunting here so I will try to keep it brief.
On Friday penny beach was calling again.
No silver or gold on that trip, but brass was in abundance.
That brass rod was 68 inches long and I had to cut it in half to get it into the picture. Click image for larger version

There were two keepers that day.
The first was a two holer.
No not one of these. Click image for larger version

ID:	219271 Saturday dawned nice and bright.
But my day got darker as it went.
Right out of the gate my Garrett Carrot quit on the first target.
So back to the car and grab one of my spares and it is only working at half of what it used to.
OH well pip pip, stiff upper lip, carry on and make the best of it.
That is until I start running into my nemesis.
For the life of me I can't walk away knowing that kids and pets play in these same areas.[ Click image for larger version

Have a look at the fishhooks that came out of the hole with the bells. Click image for larger version

ID:	219276 There was only one thing found on Saturday that had any age to it and it broke getting it out of the hole.
The area is choked with cedar tree roots.
To give you any idea this is a shot of a pathway not 4 feet from where the find was made. Click image for larger version

ID:	219279 Now I take back what I said about not finding anything really old.
I was going for another penny signal when the digger hit glass.
Never one to leave glass in the hole and not wanting to shatter it I dug wide of the mark and pried up. Click image for larger version

Today with a different pinpointer in hand the day was looking up.

Hey Bruce, The bells remind me of fishing with a cane pole when I was very young. A young kid is easily distracted but the ringing bell would bring my attention back to fishing.

Ron I think that you are right about the bells and the fishhooks being together. Thank you because I would never have thought of that.

I hate seeing those needles all over the place. Thanks Bruce for getting them out of harms way. All in all I'd say it was very productive. What was that glass object? Was it finished or did you polish is up for the 2nd pic. Thanks again for an interesting walk...Chuck

Chuck the "glass" object is a geode that has been made into a shallow dish. The type used for holding keys or trinkets. Click image for larger version

Very nice work cleaning out the trash, and as always very interesting finds! Especially the polished geode bowl!

Thank you. That geode bowl was a total surprise. I just wish that the trash was also a surprise too.
        Working...
