  • 5.75" Unusually Collorful Novaculite Blade

I have had this piece of novaculite for more than a year but I was hesitant to work it. Today I got my nerve up and broke out a blade. It's kinda thick but I just had to stop there. The B side isn't as colorful but still not the usual white novaculite.

The Beauty and the Beast in one piece. Thanks Deb

I like the looks of both sides Ron
The profile shot has an oddly upturned look to it and it is hard to actually see the edge work.

The actual edge is as sharp as a razor blade and serrated.

very nice. Kind of cool to see these points, because you get an idea how they looked freshly made back in the day.

Thanks Gary, My thoughts exactly. The patina sometimes covers some beautiful lithic material.

Nice material, nice point, the weather got warm enough to knap outside?

We have had warmer weather for about a week now. One day it was a balmy 40 degrees F.

That's a wild one Ron! Wish the Novaculite I got had those random red places! That's just crazy how that happens!? I like the serrated edge also. Thanks for showing us!

Thanks Josh, This stone was heat treated before I got it. I had one other piece with some black.
