  • Five Points from Gift Rock

    Chad collected this rock from the ancient site on his ranch in Montana.
    It looks like a fine grained quartzite with a few larger grains thrown in.
    Semi-Translucent and very tough stone.

    Johnny collected this Coastal Plain Chert in Georgia.
    Translucent stone that has an interesting look with light shining thru.

    This agate is translucent and beautiful with or without sun-rays.

    Josie gave me a whole box full of different quartzes that she collected.
    This sugar quartz has extra large grains.

          That's some nice work, and I love that moss agate in the sunlight pic. How did the quartz work out for you? Any advice on how to work it?

            Hey Ethan, Josie gave several different quartzes. This is the first piece I have knapped. This sugar quartz is a large grained rock. I couldn't flake it too thin because it would break. It will be interesting to see how the other types of quartz compare.
