    ASHTABULA BROAD POINT
Description of Physical Characteristics and Flaking Pattern: This is a broad medium to large (typically 4 to 5 inches) triangular point with an expanding stem. This point has a flattened to elliptical cross section. The blade is primarily straight. Some examples have a slight excurvate shape while other re-sharpened examples have an incurvate blade. The shoulders have an upward slope and are commonly asymmetrical. Some examples have areas on the mid-section where there are no flake patterns. The flake patterns are random. The stem may vary from almost straight to expanding. The base is primarily straight, but may be slightly convex.
    Distribution:
This point is primarily found in the upper Ohio River Valley of northern Ohio and into western Pennsylvania and western New York. It has been reported into the Susquehanna Valley, West Virginia and as far south as northwestern Kentucky, but rare. (Description taken from Overstreets) This point has random pattern flaking. Kim.

Hey Kim, Nice point and I really like the beads. I have some ancient Catlinite beads but they're not as smoothe as yours.

Not at all easy to make Ron. I have a drill bit that cuts the Catlinite and leaves the hole inside, I push it out and use a file to take off the edges. Smooth up with more file work, and drill the hole. I'm going to need around a hundred to get a neckless that is if my fingers don't fall off first.
