I’m a retired natural gas service technician and I ran into more stupid stuff like that than I can remember. We had people trying to steal gas by running it through garden hoses and even sections of bicycle inner tubes.
I still keep the picture of the water heater where the people called in saying that our gas was giving them a headache. I got there and I had to evacuate the house due to Carbon Monoxide. I found this water heater that would not vent because I guess whoever vented it used to make whiskey stills and thought he could get hot vent gases to run downhill . Also the bare ends of the Romex were still “hot” so I put wire nuts on them to keep someone from getting shocked. That's amazing, wish I could see the rest of it just for the entertainment. Craftsmanship these days is comical

Its a Hibachi Restaraunt in Knoxville. On Kingston Pike . Kingston pike is one of the oldest routes in TN runs through knoxville and is about half a mile from I 40. Pretty much the main rd through town all tyhe way into Kingston TN. The line set goes over the peak and then through the roof . Probably too cheap to hire a crane to put the unit on the roof where it belongs. Click image for larger version
